All this staying at home had me re-arranging my furniture pretty quickly. With laminate floors, my carpet would slip around or curl up on the edges, so I had stuck it down with some heavy duty carpet tape. It really is good stuff…it just leaves some pretty tacky residue if you want to move your carpet later! Everybody in the family including my dog and my hubby were sticking to the floor, and I needed a solution.
DIY GOO GONE to the rescue! Because I didn’t want to run to the store and because I like saving money making my own household cleaners, I whipped some homemade adhesive remover. Using just 3 ingredients–though you can technically get away with using only the first two–I made some adhesive remover that worked wonders. I am SO thankful for this hack and use it to remove price sticker gunk frequently as well.
Here’s the recipe, and I hope it is helpful for you as it was for me! (Watch here if you want to see it in action on my floor…as well as a naughty little doggy who likes licking one of the ingredients. Good thing they’re all nontoxic.)
DIY GOO GONE
2 TBSP coconut oil (can sub any oil)
2 TBSP baking soda
2 drops orange oil (can sub lemon oil)
Melt coconut oil in a small glass jar, add baking soda and cool. When cool but not solid, stir in essential oils. Apply to the area and let set if possible around 5 minutes to increase ease of wiping adhesive off.
